We are looking for a Global Industry Sector Specialist, Large Corporate Property that works within the CUO Property Team. This role will be Hybrid and based in our office in New York, Chicago, Alpharetta, or Los Angeles.

Our CUO Property Team is committed to strategic leadership and driving a global culture of continuous improvement. The team will work to position “AGCS” for sustainable profitability as a market leader in the large complex global corporate property insurance segment. The CUO Property Team will strengthen our technical capabilities across its core underwriting functions, streamline organization processes, share Best Underwriting practices across the organization and support the development of AGCS customer value proposition capabilities. 

The Impact You Will Have  

Reporting to the Global UW Line of Business (LoB)  Property, you will transform Global LoB strategies into defined Global Industry Sector underwriting strategies, steer and shape a balanced well priced portfolio to drive profitable growth and performance in collaboration with other CUO Property functions, Regional Property managers and other key stakeholders. 

You would be driving change and initiate ideas and projects for improving AGCS Property value proposition externally and internally through contribution to product, service, process development, and continuous improvements. 

You would be representing Property in facilitating and participating in internal and external meetings, workshops and formal trainings. You would be identifying skillset needs and enabling expertise and knowledge transfer across regions, functions and other business units globally. 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Underwriting Strategy: Develop, define and execute the global property underwriting strategy to drive profitable growth and ensure a leading market position. Sets business appetite definitions, authority proposal, implementation of UW framework, Account Referrals, ensure adherence to UW framework. Identify market opportunities, including potential markets, target segments and clients. Transfer Global LoB strategy into Industry sectors strategy, refine and implement global strategies.
• Balanced Portfolio Steering: Build a balanced portfolio and develop guidelines to steer the property portfolio globally to control loss volatility to achieve the financial targets (e.g. full combined ratio), drive the underwriting planning process and monitor adherence to the plan. Identifying sectors contribution to Global Property planning, budgeting and monitoring in close coordination with CUO Property team and Regional LoBs.
• Global Underwriting Approach: Drive and proactively monitor a consistent and coherent global underwriting governance framework. Identifies loss trends, market developments, market claims, market potentials and clients in close coordination with Regional Property Heads and respective Industry Sector Leaders of other LoBs. Drive the development and implementation of global underwriting rules and principles, guidelines and best practice processes and standards. Assign underwriting authorities worldwide, ensuring that robust, efficient controls are in place.
• Product Development: Proactively drive the development and implementation of new and modified products. Maximize efficiencies of the product range. Proactively support the development and implementation of pricing tools, guidelines and processes.
• Market & Relationship Management: Proactively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business. Positively represent AGCS internally within the Allianz Group, and externally to the market. Proactively drive the involvement of functional areas in the underwriting process, including e.g. Claims, Operations.
• Lead and Influence Best Practices: Lead and influence the global property team and ensure that the organizational structure and processes perfectly fit to serve external and internal  customers. Drive and facilitate Industry sector specific communication in close cooperation with all relevant AGCS parties. 

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Experience in underwriting of large complex international insurance and/or Reinsurance within Property. Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and (natural) hazards, policy coverages, terms and conditions relevant to Property and guide local underwriters and managers.
• Proven success in managing underwriting portfolios, including demonstrable track record of growing balanced portfolio profitably in different market conditions.
• Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS, and client, managing conflicting priorities of various parties. Experience and interest in change management ability to develop, implement and communicate strategies to address important trends or changes in the business; demonstrable success in expressing ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to sell and inspire various audiences “winning strategies”.
• Successful track record of leadership of direct and /or complex global matrix teams. rA detail oriented organized self-starter with the ability to handle multiple initiatives without losing sight of the end goals.
• Positive, Team oriented collaborative, proactive, pragmatic approach.
• Fluency in English language (verbal & written), additional languages (French, Italian, Spanish, German) are beneficial.
• A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential
