We are looking for a Senior Product Development Advisor in Alpharetta, GA

Your Team

The Chief Technical Office (CTO) is responsible for working with technical functions including Pricing, Product Management, Underwriting Integrity, Reinsurance, Portfolio and Accumulation Steering including Catastrophe Management, and Risk Consulting to ensure we are building Technical Excellence across our North America region, and in alignment with the overall global approach.

The Impact You Will Have
The Senior Product Development Advisor will serve as a senior technical and consultative resource to the Product Development team, providing experienced review, analysis, and guidance across complex product development and policy wording matters.

The role will support Product Development across Aviation, Liability, Financial Lines, Property, and Inland Marine, with a particular focus on policy wording, coverage structure, contract interpretation, product consistency, and identification of potential coverage or drafting issues.

A key component of the role will be serving as a primary conduit between Product Development and Legal. The Advisor will help identify matters requiring Legal review, elevate issues appropriately, coordinate discussions with Legal, and interface with Legal on behalf of the Product Development team to facilitate timely and effective resolution of product-related questions.

The role is embedded within Product Development and is intended to strengthen the team’s internal technical capabilities. It does not serve as part of the company’s Legal function, does not provide formal legal advice to the company or its employees, and does not or replace established Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Governance, or filing responsibilities.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Serving as a senior technical and product advisory resource to Product Development across Aviation, Liability, Financial Lines, Property, and Inland Marine.
  • Providing experienced review and challenge of complex or material wording changes before products progress through applicable approval and governance processes.
  • Advising Product Development teams on the implications of proposed wording changes and assisting in developing alternative language where appropriate.
  • Serving as a consultative resource on complex product, coverage, and policy wording questions arising during product development.
  • Promoting cross-line consistency by identifying wording concepts, contractual provisions, and emerging issues that may have implications across multiple business lines.
  • Supporting the development and review of complex manuscript or bespoke wordings where additional technical expertise is needed.
  • Assisting Product Development in evaluating emerging exposures, litigation trends, legislative developments, and market developments that may affect policy language or product design.
  • Serving as a central liaison between Product Development and Legal for product-related matters.
  • Identifying and elevating issues requiring Legal review, including matters involving complex contract interpretation, litigation exposure, legal precedent, or other legal considerations.
  • Coordinating and facilitating discussions with Legal to ensure Product Development questions are clearly framed and efficiently addressed.
  • Interfacing with Legal on behalf of Product Development, as appropriate, and communicating Legal feedback, considerations, and required actions back to the Product Development team.
  • Helping Product Development prepare materials, background information, and specific questions for Legal review.
  • Tracking significant Legal issues affecting Product Development and helping ensure resulting guidance is understood and appropriately incorporated across relevant products or lines.
  • Identifying matters requiring review by Compliance, Regulatory, Claims, Governance, or other subject-matter experts and facilitating appropriate escalation.
  • Partnering with Legal and other control functions to support efficient resolution of issues identified during the product development process.
  • Supporting Product Development standards, templates, drafting guidance, forms libraries, and wording best practices.
  • Contributing to training and knowledge sharing across Product Development, including emerging coverage issues, drafting considerations, and lessons learned from wording reviews.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance;
  • Substantial experience in commercial insurance product development, policy wording, coverage analysis, underwriting, claims, or a comparable product advisory role;
  • Significant experience reviewing, drafting, interpreting, or advising on commercial insurance policy language;
  • Demonstrated understanding of insurance contract structure, including insuring agreements, definitions, exclusions, conditions, endorsements, and the interaction among policy provisions.
  • Experience supporting multiple commercial insurance products or lines of business strongly preferred, including Aviation, Liability, Financial Lines, Property and Inland Marine;
  • Ability to analyze complex policy language and clearly communicate potential coverage and product implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Experience collaborating across Product Development, Underwriting, Legal, Claims, Compliance, Regulatory, Governance, and other insurance functions;
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when a product or wording issue requires Legal or other specialist review and to effectively frame issues for escalation;
  • Strong written communication, analytical, issue-spotting, and drafting skills;
  • Ability to evaluate issues across multiple products and recognize potential cross-portfolio implications;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding when issues should be resolved within Product Development and when escalation to another function is appropriate;
  • Ability to build and foster relationships internally across the organization;
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making; and
  • Master’s degree required; JD, experience as a practicing attorney, attorney licensure, or other comparable legal training, experience or licensure may be considered an asset, particularly where combined with meaningful commercial insurance product or coverage experience, but is not required and does not define the role.
