We are looking for an Regional Head of Product Development - Liability based in New York or Chicago
Your Team:
The North American Liability team offers a wide range of liability insurance solutions. These include National Accounts Excess, Multinational, Reverse Flow, Environmental Liability and some Primary General Liability in the United States and Canada.
The Impact You Will Have:
Reporting to the Regional Head of Liability – Noth America, the Regional Head of Product Development – Liability will be responsible for directing product strategy, innovation, and execution of the Product Development strategy for North American Liability. This includes:

Developing and approving new proprietary product/contract wordings and/or all substantial tailoring of standardized Allianz Commercial forms to meet requirements of industry sectors, key clients or brokers, including complex negotiation of contract terms and conditions.

Maintaining strong internal relationships with Underwriting, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Product Governance, Claims and other LoBs handling similar or related products or customers to facilitate product development and support a One Allianz market face to customers and brokers.

Owning LoB compliance, in collaboration with the Product Governance team on regional regulatory requirements with respect to Product Development, including forms, and US usage rules.

Maintaining strong market relationships necessary to anticipate and respond to changes in requirements for key industry sectors, clients or brokers.

Acting as regional thought-leader for LoB and expert referral point for senior and expert underwriters.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
-
Providing significant input to existing Product Development strategy and/or developing new strategy and new products/solutions for clients.

Acting as the highest-level subject matter expert for Liability Product Development and contributing to strategic decisions globally.

In-depth knowledge of Liability, allowing for unique/special wordings.

Actively negotiating complex terms and conditions with brokers and clients.

Ensuring accurate documentation of forms, rates and underwriting rules activities, including verifying record of compliance in collaboration with Product Governance
-
Collaborating with Product Governance on requirements and updating of underwriting rules with respect to form usage.

On-going oversight of state regulatory requirements with respect to forms, including form filing exceptions with respect to commercial deregulation, manuscript forms, and surplus lines company options.

Proactively driving and leading acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (client and broker negotiations where necessary) in situations where contract wordings are a key consideration in the selection of the insurer.

Proactively liaising with Distribution on common Liability product requirements and solutions.

Acting as the top expert and thought leader for Liability, including mentoring expert/senior underwriters and sharing best practices.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with critical brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers).
What You’ll Bring to the Role
-
A minimum of 7 years of experience in Liability underwriting including expert understanding of the entire Liability products and portfolio;

Well recognized established relationships with brokers and clients as the key subject matter expert and highly visible in the market;
-
Expert understanding of global Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape;
-
Significant experience working in complex, global matrix organization;
-
Recognized expert in designing, developing and implementing consistent, robust contract wordings, including expert understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks;

Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation;
-
Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Liability;
-
Ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs;
-
Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions;
-
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to develop and positively influence key, strategic position holders across locations and functions;
-
Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority;
-
Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.

Advanced degree in Economics, Business or Law (Masters or JD).

The annualized base pay range for this role is $175,000 - $300,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
