AI Investment Engineer (f/m/d)

The Central AI Node is a senior cross-asset AI delivery and technical leadership role within the Investment Platform, reporting to the Area Business Lead for the Investment Technology Area. The role contributes to accelerated AI delivery across Investments in close alignment with asset-class AI Nodes, CIO priorities, D&T delivery capabilities, the AI CoE, and relevant product squads. It also provides functional guidance and leadership to junior Central AI Node roles as the central AI capability evolves.

The role combines investment domain expertise with hands-on AI engineering capabilities. It identifies cross-asset opportunities, translates them into executable delivery topics, and contributes directly to solution architecture, rapid prototyping, reusable AI components, code reviews, and the industrialization of scalable AI solutions. A key focus is to avoid fragmented or duplicated AI development by promoting reuse, shared standards, and a common technical foundation across asset classes.

The Central AI Node does not replace product ownership, squad accountability, or asset-class-specific AI ownership. Instead, it complements these roles by ensuring that cross-asset AI priorities are clearly articulated, technically grounded, and reflected in planning, prioritization, and delivery discussions. To remain business-relevant, the role stays close to asset-class experts and investment teams while serving as a central interface within the Investment Technology Area for cross-asset AI delivery topics.

What you will do

Cross-Asset Class Coordination

• Implements AI solutions and reusable components in collaboration with AI Nodes and maintains regular interaction to strengthen consistency across Investments.
• Contributes to the AI forum as the central mechanism for cross-asset exchange, alignment, challenge, reuse, standards, and accountability.
• Drives follow-through on agreed AI forum actions and promotes collaboration, lessons learned, and reusable implementation approaches across AI Nodes.
• Identifies duplication risks and develops shared patterns, common foundations, and reusable solutions across asset classes.
• Provides functional guidance, coaching, and day-to-day direction to junior Central AI Node roles to build central AI delivery capability and ensure consistency of approach.

Delivery of Cross-Asset Class AI Solutions

• Translates business requirements into executable delivery topics with clear sequencing and expected outcomes.
• Develops prototypes, proofs of concept, reusable AI components, shared frameworks, and the common AI code base.
• Drives reusable, cross-asset technology components through well-abstracted, maintainable, and production-oriented code.
• Applies engineering best practices through code reviews, testing, documentation, SDLC discipline, and CI/CD practices to improve quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Helps industrialise prototypes and proofs of concept into scalable, maintainable, production-ready AI solutions.

D&T Interface and AI Delivery Model Contribution

• Acts as a point of contact for D&T on cross-asset AI topics.
• Translates AI priorities into clear demand, delivery requirements, and implementation plans.
• Aligns architecture and implementation decisions with business needs and technical standards.
• Helps feed AI priorities into area planning, OKRs, roadmaps, and relevant sprint discussions.
• Coordinates business and technical dependencies across AI Nodes, CIOs, Product Owners, squads, D&T, the AI CoE, and technology partners.
• Ensures AI initiatives are reflected in delivery priorities without assuming product or squad ownership.

Delivery Support for Areas Without Dedicated AI Nodes

• Delivers AI solutions for investment teams or areas that do not yet have dedicated AI Node capabilities, where applicable.
• Takes delivery responsibility for relevant use cases in such areas within the agreed delivery model.
• Provides hands-on implementation support, prototyping support, or technical guidance where AI capabilities are not yet fully established.
• Integrates these areas into shared standards, reusable components, lessons learned, and the broader Investments AI delivery structure.

Interaction Model

The Central AI Node works closely with:

• Asset-class AI Nodes, who provide asset-class priorities, business context, and investment-domain input.
• CIOs and investment leadership, who shape strategic AI priorities and help resolve prioritisation questions where needed.
• Data & Technology, as a delivery partner for scalable AI solutions.
• The AI CoE, Data Platform Area, architects, and relevant technology capabilities for shared standards, reusable assets, and technical alignment.
• The Area Business Lead and Area Technology Lead of the Investment Technology Area.
• Product Owners and product squads within the Investment Technology Area.
• The AI forum, which serves as the regular mechanism for cross-asset alignment, challenge, reuse, and accountability.
• Selected asset-class experts, who provide practical guidance and ensure a close connection to investment topics and business needs.

Scope of Role

The scope of the role includes:

• Shaping, coordinating, and enabling cross-asset AI delivery from use-case identification to production implementation.
• Translating cross-investment AI opportunities into executable delivery topics, implementation plans, and technical solutions.
• Coordinating delivery dependencies, ownership, sequencing, and timelines across asset classes and delivery squads.
• Aligning AI Nodes, CIOs, Product Owners, D&T, and relevant technology partners around implementation priorities and delivery outcomes.
• Contributing to area planning, quarterly prioritisation, OKRs, and sprint-related discussions where cross-asset AI topics require clarification or coordination.
• Providing hands-on implementation support where AI capabilities are not yet fully established, within agreed ownership and capacity boundaries.

Mandate & Boundaries

• The Central AI Node provides cross-asset AI expertise, delivery coordination, and technical enablement but does not replace formal product, squad, or asset-class ownership.
• The ABL and ATL retain formal area leadership, capacity management, and final prioritisation accountability; Product Owners retain product ownership and backlog accountability; delivery squads retain execution responsibility.
• Asset-class AI Nodes retain responsibility for asset-class-specific AI priorities, business context, and engagement with their investment teams.
• The Central AI Node complements these roles by identifying cross-asset opportunities, challenging duplication, supporting shared standards, and translating common needs into executable delivery topics.
• Where areas do not yet have dedicated AI Node capabilities, the Central AI Node may provide additional hands-on support and coordination within the agreed delivery model.

Role Characteristics

• Senior hybrid AI role combining investment-domain proximity, cross-asset delivery coordination, and hands-on technical contribution.
• Cross-asset AI catalyst and delivery enabler rather than the formal owner of all AI delivery.
• Primary interface to D&T for cross-asset AI delivery topics.
• Strong focus on reusable components, shared engineering standards, common technical foundations, and the avoidance of duplicated development.
• Close connection to asset-class experts and investment teams to ensure AI delivery remains grounded in practical business needs.
• Provides senior guidance and functional leadership to junior Central AI Node roles, supporting capability development, delivery consistency, and effective knowledge transfer.

What you bring

• Strong understanding of asset management or related financial services fields within an investment context.
• Deep expertise in AI technologies, tools, emerging developments, and implementation approaches.
• Experience in modern enterprise AI software delivery, including code contribution, scalable implementation, code reviews, testing, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of SDLC practices, software engineering standards, reusable component design, and production-readiness requirements.
• Deep understanding of AI delivery models, product ownership, and collaboration between business and technology teams.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional or cross-team initiatives in complex environments.
• Ability to stay close to asset-class-specific topics, engage credibly with investment experts, and translate business realities into effective cross-asset AI delivery initiatives.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
• Ability to translate strategic priorities into coordinated delivery activities, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
• Strong delivery orientation and the ability to manage dependencies across multiple stakeholders.
• Experience guiding, coaching, or functionally leading junior colleagues in complex delivery environments.
