Intern Global Investment Platform (f/m/d)

We are currently looking for an Intern to join the Thematic Equity Team within the Global Investment Platform! The position will be based in our Frankfurt or Munich office.

About the Job

The Thematic Equity team manages equity strategies focused on identifying and investing in structural, long-term trends that are transforming economies, industries and societies. Our investment approach combines fundamental company research with thematic analysis, data-driven insights and a long-term perspective.

As part of Allianz Global Investors, the team benefits from extensive global research resources, strong corporate access and close collaboration across the broader Equity platform. Investment ideas are developed through rigorous bottom-up research, direct engagement with companies, and analysis of the competitive, technological and regulatory developments shaping individual investment themes.

We operate in a collaborative environment with an open exchange of views. Ideas are assessed based on evidence, investment relevance and long-term conviction rather than hierarchy.

The intern will work closely with investment professionals and contribute to both investment research and the continued development of the team’s data and AI capabilities. This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates who combine curiosity about companies, financial markets and structural investment themes with strong technical skills and an interest in applying data science and artificial intelligence to investment management.

What you do

• Work closely with the Thematic Equity and Active Engineering Equity teams to translate investment ideas into scalable analytical solutions
• Write structured, reusable and well-documented code, applying quality checks
• Apply generative AI and large language models to company classification, document analysis, investment research and other investment-related use cases
• Develop and refine prompts, evaluate AI outputs critically and implement validation processes to improve accuracy and reliability
• Take ownership of defined development and analytical tasks, troubleshoot technical issues and contribute ideas for improving existing tools and processes
• Research companies and structural investment themes using available financial market data.

What you bring

• Currently studying Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Strong interest in equities, companies, financial markets and thematic investing
• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL
• Practical experience with Databricks and data analysis
• Strong skills with generative AI, ChatGPT, Claude and prompt engineering
• Strong analytical skills, curiosity and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively
• Fluency in English
• Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
