Fund Operations Specialist

Fund Operations (FO), Asia Pacific team is responsible for fund services oversight and BAU Change functions covering pension funds, retail funds, institutional funds, private funds and segregated mandate businesses in the region including Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and other markets in Asia.  Our team also work closely with global teams in Germany, our head office, to ensure harmony and ensure efficient execution of varies global and management top-down initiatives, projects and policies.

Fund Services oversights would include oversight on key outsourced services vendors including fund administrators, custody, trustee, tax consultants and auditors. 

BAU Change would include front, middle and back-office implementations working closely with internal and external stakeholders along the investment value chain. This includes for examples, onboarding of brokers, opening of custody and market accounts, implementing fund mergers, portfolio position transfers, and termination of funds and mandates.

This role although cover both aspects above, but will be more focusing on BAU Change functions.

What you will do 

•    Ensure readiness of operational implementation for fund/mandate launches and market/ account openings with internal stakeholders (eg. Compliance, Legal, Investments, Trading, Product teams), external service providers (eg. middle-back office/ trustee/ custodian) and brokers
•     Response to regular KYC/due diligence request from external service providers such as brokers and custodians
•     Ensure oversight framework and controls are in place for key external fund services vendors. Escalation point between internal stakeholders vs external fund services vendors
•     Ensure Hong Kong and Singapore in-house products are fulfilling local tax compliance requirements and oversight on withholding/ tax reclaim processes and support CRS/ FATCA related forms with the support of tax consultants 
•     Ensure fund valuation/ expenses & NAV oversights and control processes are effective and continuously fulfilling regulatory and business requirements 
•    Upon operational implementations, ensure good understanding on business, feature, scope and respective regulatory requirements of respective security, markets and product. Such includes QFI, FMCC, SFC/ MAS, accounting requirements
•     Involve in operational efficiency enhancement projects 
•     Ensure global and local company policy are met

What you bring  

•    University degree holder
•     Minimum 5 years of working experience in asset management/ custodian/ fund accounting/ middle office in Hong Kong or Singapore
•     Experience with an asset manager especially in coordinating operational changes/initiatives and fund and/ or 3rd party service provider is a definite advantage
•      Good understanding of varies security onboarding including OTC derivatives and Asia specific market such as Bond/Stock connect
•     Decent knowledge or some experiences in programming or AI tools at business is a plus
•     Decent knowledge of workflow of middle office functions 
•     Understanding of basic NAV calculation and financial statements is a plus
•     Experience involving in China initiatives is a strong plus, such as QFI, stock connect, QFLP, QDII, cross border remittance etc
•     Excellent communication and presentation skills
•     Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment and the ability to learn and absorb new tasks
•     Proficient in speaking both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
•    Ability to use Generative AI with knowledge of Microsoft CoPilot, Data Analytics, ChatGPT, AIOps, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics
