The Allianz Global Investors Development Finance team is offering an internship position in the London office. This will give you the opportunity to work across a breadth of impactful private debt investment opportunities with a focus on Emerging Markets. The team’s strategies focus primarily on investing together with public sector institutions such that private sector investors can access Emerging Markets and earn a commercial return while making a positive and measurable difference in the countries that need it the most.  

 

This will be a 5.5-month placement. The start date will either be June/July 2026 or November/December 2026.

What you do

 

  • Support in screening new investment opportunities, including structuring, preliminary impact, risk and pricing analysis, and drafting screening memos with support and input from the team members
  • Support the initial screening of opportunities including presentation, preparation of screening papers for Investment Committee (IC)
  • As part of a deal team, undertake financial modelling, transaction due diligence, including the review and analysis of financial, legal, commercial, ESG, impact and technical reports, and sourcing and analysing independent research
  • Prepare investment proposals and assist presentation to IC
  • Collaborate with internal parties (e.g., Operations/Compliance/Risk/Legal/ Asset Management functions) as part of the investment process and other team-related tasks
  • Maintain the master database with deal pipeline for tracking sourcing opportunities
  • Keep informed of key developments in the impact private credit investing, blended finance, and emerging markets space
  • Help prepare marketing materials for ongoing fundraising opportunities across strategies
  • Prepare materials that educate internal and external stakeholders on main developments.

 

What you bring

 

  • Preferably but not exclusively Business, Economics, Finance, Science, or Maths degree either completed or due to be completed
  • Expect to achieve a 2.1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level. Achieved a minimum of 128 UCAS points from one of the following: 3 A-Levels (top 3 grades sat in the same year and first sitting over 2 years) or 5 Scottish Higher from your fifth year at school or 32 points for International Baccalaureate or 75% in your European Baccalaureate or equivalent
  • Previous roles/internships in one of the following areas: Development Finance, Private Equity or Private Credit, M&A, Structured, or Leveraged Finance team of a leading investment bank, Debt advisory, Transaction Services team of audit firms or Strategy consulting
  • Knowledge of financial modelling
  • Understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methods
  • Competency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Curiosity about undertaking detailed independent research to understand industries and sectors
  • Have an unquestionable dedication to integrity and ethical decision making
  • A passion for sustainability and for investing for positive impact
  • Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
