Welcome at Allianz

We are looking for an intern (m/f/d) for our modern and innovative location Munich Schwabing.

We are offering a short-term internship for a motivated student in the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) at Allianz Re.

The CUO serves as the central hub for all reinsurance underwriting activities, ensuring technical excellence across underwriting and actuarial functions while maintaining consistent standards across the Allianz Group.

Our teams support Allianz’s insurance entities by providing specialized expertise and internal reinsurance solutions that enable tailored local approaches and strengthen internal collaboration. We also establish and support underwriting governance and quality control frameworks to promote disciplined risk selection and portfolio compliance. In addition, we deliver analytical insights and portfolio-level oversight to help steer the Group’s reinsurance business from a strategic, data-driven perspective - optimizing risk management and capital efficiency.

What you will do as Intern in Underwriting Support (m/f/d)

As an intern in the CUO area, you will support both the Chief Underwriting Officer directly and contribute to various teams across the CUO function.

Your tasks will include

  • assisting with organizational and administrative activities,
  • helping prepare presentations and meeting materials,
  • coordinating follow-ups,
  • and supporting internal communication flows.

You may also be involved in small research assignments or tasks that contribute to ongoing projects. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of reinsurance topics - from reinsurance underwriting and actuarial analysis to portfolio analysis and strategic initiatives - providing valuable insights into the inner workings of a global reinsurance organization. Whether you're curious about how reinsurance works or looking to explore a career in underwriting, this internship offers a hands-on introduction to the field in a dynamic, international setting.

What you bring as Intern in Underwriting Support (m/f/d)

  • Enrolled in a university program (Business, Economics, or related field)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a cheerful and proactive attitude
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint); quick to learn new tools
  • Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
  • Comfortable in multicultural environments; experience across countries is valued
  • Openness to creative and innovative solutions, as well as a passion for working with forward-thinking technologies such as artificial intelligence or internal ChatGPT.

Our highlights for you:
