Intern risklab (f/m/d)

We are currently looking for a forward-thinking and results-oriented Quantitative Analyst intern (f/m/d) in our risklab advice and solutions function. The position is based in our Munich office.

About the Job 

risklab is the expert for investment and risk solutions within Allianz Global Investors. Over 60 investment professionals worldwide develop advisory services and solutions that are tailored to individual investment goals of our clients. We, risklab’s Quantitative Research and Modelling team, are looking to recruit an intern who is interested in applying quantitative methods within finance. You will join a dynamic and innovative environment within the risklab department where you will support us on various research topics.

You will be working with our proprietary mathematical and econometric models which power our business of providing clients with quantitative financial advice. You will support us in various tasks with a focus on financial data analysis and modelling as well as processing and testing cutting edge academic research for their potential. Additionally, you will also be involved in the team’s core services where you will be able to gain first-hand experience in real-world asset management and to apply and expand your quantitative skills in state-of-the-art financial analyses. We are looking for you! 

What you do

• Support with empirical and theoretical research in the context of asset class and risk factor modelling
• Structure, explore and extract information and features from financial data
• Perform analyses of industry best practices in financial modelling
• Develop model prototypes of those models including testing, documentation and support
• Integrate new asset classes and risk factors into our existing modelling framework.

What you bring

• Master level student in (Financial) Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Quant Finance, or any other discipline with a strong quantitative focus
• Strong analytical skills with profound knowledge in econometrics, financial mathematics and statistics
• Knowledge of stochastic calculus is a big plus
• Good programming experience in at least one object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, C#)
• Knowledge of financial markets, different asset classes and financial instruments
• Empathetic teammate, flexible, open-minded, pro-active, self-reliant, and forward-thinking
• Fluent spoken and written skills in English are required; proficiency in German is a plus
• Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
