JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

As a Platform Engineer, your responsibility is to ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the IDS Market Data Platform — a complex, Perlbased system used for market data acquisition, processing, and delivery. In this role, you combine technical expertise, marketdata domain knowledge, and operational excellence. You will improve system reliability, manage incidents, integrate with vendors, and work closely with stakeholders. You’ll also help migrate business logic to a modern cloud platform, building your cloud skills and making a significant impact.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operations of the IDS Financial Market Data platform, including job control, batch execution, system load balancing, and failover handling. 
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve system incidents, ensuring timely root‑cause analysis and durable fixes.
  • Execute planned maintenance activities, deployments, and upgrades to secure ongoing system health and stability.
  • Maintain and optimize vendor and client data delivery workflows, including spooler processes, parsing logic, and file transformation pipelines.
  • Support the transition from the current environment to the new cloud based system, including preparation, knowledge transfer, testing activities, and alignment of operational processes to future state architecture.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong Perl programming expertise, including debugging and maintaining and developing business logic.
  • Solid Linux and Shell scripting skills for operations, automation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle databases, especially in dataprocessing environments.
  • Understanding of financial market data, including equities, indices, FX, and corporate actions is desirable.
  • Handson incident management experience, with strong troubleshooting and rootcause analysis abilities.
  • Proficiency with filebased workflows (XML, CSV, Excel) and communication protocols like SFTP, FTP(S), HTTP(S), REST, and SOAP is desirable.
  • Operational experience in missioncritical systems, including batch jobs, load balancing, failover, and maintenance tasks.
  • Python and Azure Cloud experience are beneficial.
