We are hiring a forward-thinking and results-oriented Quantitative Investment Strategist (f/m/d) to join our risklab function. This position is an early-career opportunity based in our Munich office.
Risklab is the investment and risk solutions expert function within Allianz Global Investors. More than 60 investment professionals worldwide develop advisory services and solutions tailored to the individual investment goals of our clients.
The Asset Allocation Advice & Solutions team within risklab advises institutional clients across a wide spectrum of investment needs, ranging from strategic asset allocation, asset-liability management, lifecycle advice (defined contribution), and liability-driven investment solutions to ad hoc investment-related questions.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Quantitative Investment Strategist to join our team and support our lifecycle advisory and solutions business. With your interest and skills in both financial modelling and programming, you will contribute to the design and development of our in-house model infrastructure. You will collaborate with both business and technology teams to build and enhance our platform, while ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, you will be involved in the team's core services, applying your quantitative expertise to deliver state-of-the-art financial analysis.
What you will do
- Support clients invested in our lifecycle strategies across the full product offering, from the design of customized strategies to ongoing client support.
- Maintain and enhance our tool environment in collaboration with business and technology teams.
- Perform detailed quantitative and qualitative analyses centred on our clients' investment goals and derive optimal solutions for their individual investment requirements.
- Provide ongoing client advice based on quantitative simulations and analyses, working closely with the broader risklab team.
- Investigate the long-term risk characteristics of asset allocations from both historical and forward-looking perspectives and derive risk-optimal allocations.
- Develop and implement methods to further enhance our advisory and solutions offering, supporting both concept development and implementation in Python and MATLAB.
What you bring
- Master's degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong background in Finance or Economics; alternatively, a degree in Finance with a strong quantitative focus.
- Programming skills and experience with Python or a similar programming language (experience with MATLAB is an advantage).
- Knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, and financial instruments from both a theoretical and/or practical perspective.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (experience with VBA is an advantage).
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to structure and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts and solutions clearly to different audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and a continuous desire to learn.
- Ability to manage client requests efficiently, deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines, and coordinate effectively across multiple teams.
- Empathetic team player with a flexible, proactive, self-reliant, and forward-thinking mindset.
- Proficiency in both German and English.
- Experience with AI and Machine Learning
