This is a great moment to join us as we are currently looking for a forward-thinking and results-oriented Intern in the area of Quantitative Investment Strategies in our risklab function. The position is based in our Munich office.
risklab is the expert for investment and risk solutions within Allianz Global Investors. Over 60 investment professionals worldwide develop advisory services and solutions that are tailored to individual investment goals of our clients. risklab’s Asset Allocation Advice & Solutions team advises institutional clients on all their investment topics ranging from strategic asset allocation, asset liability management, lifecycle (defined contribution), liability-driven investment solutions and ad-hoc arising investment-related questions. With your interest and skills in financial modelling you will work on the design and further development of our in-house model infrastructure. Here you will collaborate with various functional teams to build and enhance our setup. Additionally, you will also be involved in the team’s core services where you will be able to gain first-hand experience in real-world asset management and to apply and expand your quantitative skills in state-of-the-art financial analyses.
What you will do
- Develop and implement methods and models to further improve our advice and solutions offerings, supporting both the conceptional idea behind and the implementation in Python/Matlab
- Investigate long-term risk-characteristics of asset classes and asset allocations both on a historic and forward-looking basis
- Conduct quantitative simulations and analyses as part of our ongoing client advice.
What you bring
- You are currently a Master's student in Finance / Economics with strong quantitative skills or in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Computer Science with a background in Finance or Economics
- Profound programming skills in Matlab and/or Python (experience with C# is a plus)
- Strong analytical skills which allow you to structure and solve complex problems
- Ability to illustrate complex topics in a comprehensive way
- A strong attention to detail, a diligent working approach, and a desire to learn
- Knowledge of financial markets, different asset classes and financial instruments from a theoretical and / or a practical perspective
- Empathetic teammate, flexible, open-minded, pro-active, self-reliant, and forward-thinking
- Proficient in English and German both written and spoken
- Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
