What you do: 

In this role you will enable AIM by delivering secure, innovative technologies and actionable insights that drive efficiency, modernization and growth by collaborating with our users in delivering trusted, innovative, and resilient investment systems that position our organization as an industry strategic leader in data driven investment management.

 

Working as part of an Agile team, you will use your investment management/accounting/financial background to understand users’ point of view and their objectives and translate them into a solution design and define milestones, deliverables and success criteria that will result in value-add outcomes for the business (e.g., new processes and tools and process automation and improvements for asset classes, cash flow projection, scenario testing, portfolio management, capital markets, market and economic valuation, asset liability management, investment strategy lifecycle, end-to-end investment lifecycle, investment analytics, etc.).

 

This role leads the innovative design and delivery of scalable, flexible, and cost-effective cloud-based data solutions to support AIM data, business intelligence, and AI initiatives.

 

As part of the Investment Systems team, you will use your experience in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing and Big Data Analytics to design, build, test, scale, document and support data pipelines, integrations, and data systems of high complexity, and evolve the AIM data architecture to power consistent self-service analytics, reporting, visualizations, data-driven decision-making and AI solutions. This role defines the technical data roadmap, prepares and maintains architectural documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical standards, builds scalable and reusable data assets, and develops semantic layers that enable meaningful insights across AIM. As a key partner to analytics and visualization users, you will play a critical role in the AIM’s modern data platform, ensuring data quality, performance, governance, and long-term scalability. Through this work, the role strengthens the value, reliability, and strategic impact of AIM data, analytical, and AI capabilities.

 

The following experience architecting large-scale cloud-based data solutions across multiple technologies will be key in this role:

 

  • Apache Spark and Databricks Lakehouse (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, pipelines, workflows).
  • Other MPP systems (Microsoft Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  • Hands-on experience in Azure data platforms (including Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Synapse, Data Lake Storage, Event Hub, Azure SQL, Key Vault) or equivalent cloud platform.
  • Ability to design cost-effective cloud-based data solutions, including experience with cloud cost monitoring and optimization tools.
  • Experience with enterprise semantic models for BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience working with structured and unstructured data.
  • Python and modern ETL/ELT patterns (orchestration, automation, reliability).
  • Data Warehouse, Data Lake and Data Lakehouse architecture.
  • SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Handling large volumes of data (Terabytes & Petabytes).
  • High throughput, low latency workloads.
  • Optimizing for reads, writes, and archival.
  • Indexing.
  • Columnar storage formats (e.g., Parquet, ORC).
  • Query optimization and database optimization.
  • Parallel query processing.
  • Materialized views.
  • Partitioning.
  • Sharding.
  • Distributed storage model.
  • Concurrency management.
  • Dynamic and elastic scaling.
  • Resource contention handling.
  • AWS background is welcome.
  • Other skills and certifications that will be helpful in this role:
  • ICCP Certified Data Professional certification or equivalent.
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification.
  • Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer certification.
  • Familiarity with accounting, investment, actuarial and forecasting datasets and processes.
  • Experience building and supporting analytics and reporting solutions, including Power BI dashboards.
  • Experience with tools like Databricks unity Catalog, Apache Atlas or similar for data lineage tracking and impact analysis.
  • Experience enabling AI/ML platforms (Azure, Databricks or other), including feature store design and model deployment architecture.
  • Experience with data observability and quality tools such as Datadog, or similar platforms to ensure data reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Experience in version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, monitoring/data quality best practices.
  • Experience supporting or leading data platform or data warehouse migrations.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes for managing data workloads.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager for automating cloud infrastructure deployment.
  • Practical understanding of data encryption, access control, and security best practices to protect sensitive data.
  • Experience with cloud native, event driven, and streaming architectures.
  • Understanding of, and experience with AI/Agentic AI driven data operations with experience in MCP.
  • Knowing how to use Claude Code or similar tools to increase your productivity.
  • Leadership and delivery of projects, solutions, and technical services in support of business objectives. Duties may include: requirements gathering and translation, troubleshooting and fixing issues, programming and coding, system development and automation, data modeling, creation and execution of test plans, etc.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to AIM for run and change activities, in partnership with other technical teams and stakeholders. Includes on-call support after hours as needed.
  • Stay appraised of technology and industry landscape and emerging trends. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders (e.g., IT, Compliance, AIM SE, etc.).
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)

 

What you bring: 

  • 6 +years of experience required, Development/Systems support. Financial services knowledge and experience. Project management experience (Waterfall and Agile), partnering to develop efficient business solutions and systems. Experience with full stack development within a cloud environment. Experience with cloud infrastructure and architecture, data warehouse and database design, Microsoft Azure, business intelligence and reporting.
  • Four-year degree required, Finance, Business Management, Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience

Job posting range $79,000 - $134,000 Associate

                                   $96,000 - $160,000 Principal  

 

Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
