The Head of IT is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s IT strategy and end-to-end accountability of IT delivery for Allianz Life and Allianz Investment Management US (AIM US). This role ensures that technology supports business objectives, enhances operational efficiency, and drives innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals. The Head of IT will lead a team of IT professionals, manage budgets, and ensure the end-to-end security, scalability, and reliability of IT systems and services.

 

What you do 

 

Strategic IT Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing insights on emerging technologies and their potential impact on the business.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

IT Delivery:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Ensure the availability and performance of IT services, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

Cybersecurity and Compliance:

  • Ensure alignment of IT security policies and procedures to protect the organization’s data and systems from cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, DORA).
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide upskilling and development opportunities to ensure the team remains current with evolving technologies.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure IT initiatives meet the needs of all business areas.

Vendor and Budget Management:

  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost control and alignment with business priorities.

Project Management and Delivery:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet business requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, identifying opportunities to enhance the organization’s IT capabilities.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging technology to streamline processes and improve productivity.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems and adopt cloud-based solutions where appropriate.

 

What you bring

 

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing IT operations, infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications, Artificial Intelligence.
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT) and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, CRM platforms, and other enterprise software solutions.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

 

Location

  • This is an executive role with competitive variable targets. The annualized base pay range for this role is $210,000-270,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, and the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the ATA total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, ATA also offers eligibility for an incentive-based annual bonus and long-term incentives.
