What you do:

Allianz Life is shaping the future of insurance through digital innovation, trusted data, and responsible application of artificial intelligence. We are seeking a Principal Enterprise AI Architect to define how AI is applied, governed, and scaled across the enterprise—moving the organization from experimentation to production-grade, business critical AI capabilities.

This role sits within the Enterprise Architecture organization and works across all enterprise domains, with an initial focus on Operations and Digital. The role partners closely with the Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) organization to ensure strong alignment between enterprise architecture, data strategy, responsible AI governance, and delivery execution.

As a Principal architect and thought leader, this role establishes enterprise roadmaps, reference architectures, and implementation patterns for AI, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, governable, and aligned to Allianz Life’s strategy and risk posture. The role does not own delivery execution but enables and guides it through clear standards, patterns, and architectural decision making.

  • Define enterprise target-state architectures for AI, spanning business capabilities, value streams, operating model implications, and supporting technology platforms.
  • Partner closely with the CDAO organization to align AI architecture with enterprise data strategy, analytics platforms, governance frameworks, and responsible AI standards.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise AI roadmaps, identifying near , mid , and long term opportunities across operations, digital channels, CRM, Salesforce, and partner ecosystems.
  • Establish repeatable AI implementation patterns, including agent orchestration models, human in the loop designs, integration approaches, and AI lifecycle management.
  • Translate business strategies and operational pain points into clear, actionable AI enabled capabilities, from concept through execution readiness.
  • Advise and guide domain architects, product leaders, and delivery teams on AI design choices, tradeoffs, dependencies, and risks.
  • Ensure AI solutions are grounded in trusted data, reusable platforms, and shared services, in collaboration with data engineering, analytics, and AI teams.
  • Embed responsible AI, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance into architecture designs, working closely with governance, risk, and security partners.
  • Facilitate cross functional design sessions to align stakeholders on AI strategy, operating model impacts, and execution sequencing.
  • Produce executive ready architectural artifacts, including capability maps, solution concepts, and operating model views.
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)

What you bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology strategy, architecture, or related roles, with 5+ years operating at enterprise or cross domain scope.
  • Proven experience in enterprise, business, or solution architecture within financial services or other highly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into architecture artifacts (capability models, value streams, operating models, solution blueprints).
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, including generative and agentic AI, applied in business or operational contexts.
  • Proven record of defining architecture standards and patterns that enable scalable, repeatable delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including influence at senior executive levels.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to navigate complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating risk, compliance, security, and governance into architectural decisions.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.

Job posting range $140,000 - $180,500

Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education.
