Protection & Resilience Consultant Principal | Hybrid
Minneapolis, MN, US, 55416
At Allianz Life, we are guided by our mission – we secure your future – and by our common goal of caring for tomorrow. We care for our employees by promoting an inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to grow and be rewarded for their success. We care for our customers by creating new products that help them protect their families and pursue their retirement goals. We care for our community by giving time, resources, and donations. And we care for the future by supporting sustainability, protecting the local environment, and promoting equality in our communities.
The Role
You are the primary engine responsible for the company’s ability to survive and recover from major disruptions. You lead the execution of our end-to-end strategy for Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Incident Coordination. You own the program lifecycle—from identifying systemic risks and researching modern solutions to monitoring compliance and managing key stakeholders. You operate with a high degree of independence, providing technical direction across the organization. While you report to the Director of Protection and Resilience, you are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) expected to drive results and optimize our resilience posture with minimal oversight.
The Operational Commitment
This is a high-visibility, front-line position. We operate in a high-demand environment which requires a partner who can provide dedicated support during active incidents, including off-hours and weekends when necessary. This is balanced by a proactive commitment to time recovery; when a surge ends, we will prioritize your opportunity to recharge.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Governance: Manage the day-to-day operations of the enterprise-level Protection & Resilience programs, ensuring all workstreams meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Workstream Coordination: Lead complex, multi-department initiatives. You are responsible for managing deliverables, identifying dependencies, and clearing roadblocks across the organization.
- Decision Frameworks: Design and optimize the protocols for crisis escalation, ensuring clear "rules of engagement" and authority models are in place before an incident occurs.
- Crisis Preparedness: Design and facilitate executive-level crisis simulations, maintain actionable response playbooks, and provide expert advisory support during real-world events.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct assessments across business lines to identify resilience gaps and systemic threats, building the specific action plans needed to close them.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the enterprise SME. You will provide mentorship and informal leadership to cross-functional teams, leveling up the company’s overall risk IQ.
- Modernization: Drive program efficiency by identifying and incorporating emerging tools, specifically utilizing Generative AI to automate risk monitoring and documentation.
- Executive Reporting: Transform complex operational data into clear, high-level reporting for the Director to present to senior executives.
What You Bring
- 6+ Years of Experience: A proven track record in Operations, Insurance, or Financial Services with a heavy focus on risk, safeguarding, or business continuity.
- Self-Direction: You are a "finisher" who takes full accountability for projects from concept to completion without needing constant supervision.
- Executive Presence: You can communicate complex technical risks clearly to senior leaders and remain calm and influential during high-pressure situations.
- Analytical Rigor: You use data to research and resolve complex operational issues with an enterprise-level perspective.
- Tech Savvy: You are comfortable exploring and implementing new technologies (AI/Automation) to replace manual, legacy processes.
- Four year degree required: Bachelor’s degree, specialized training or equivalent work experience.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.
Job posting range: $82,000 - $124,000
Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
