What you do:
The Tax Senior Manager is responsible for managing the business income tax life cycle of a large multinational company, including activities such as:
- Leading corporate income tax compliance processes, which includes overseeing the accuracy and timely filing of income tax returns, managing the estimated tax payments and tax settlements processes, and evaluating tax-filing positions to optimize the tax situation.
- Leading various tax accounting processes such as monthly and quarterly tax provisions (IFRS/GAAP/STAT), annual income tax provision reporting, tax payable reconciliations, calculating and recording federal and state provision to return amounts, tax attribute tracking, and evaluating uncertain tax positions.
- Managing tax forecasting processes and assisting with strategic tax planning activities.
- Assisting with applicable tax advocacy and risk management activities.
The role supports multiple operating entities and holding companies domiciled in the U.S.A. In addition to traditional corporate income tax concepts, the responsibilities also cover specialized corporate insurance and/or U.S.A corporate international and inbound income tax topics.
The Tax Senior Manager also assists with evaluating and reporting on the tax implications of business and industry changes, legislative and judicial developments, and key audit findings. They also conduct tax research and document/support tax positions as well as drive planning/forecasting processes.
The incumbent will lead projects related to process improvement initiatives and/or provide guidance and strategy regarding associated income tax implications. They will train and mentor direct reports and other team members; provide leadership with the information needed to make strategic decisions on tax return filing positions, tax accounting, and tax audits; and collaborate with cross-functional teams of tax professionals, business partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the highest level of quality in our tax compliance and reporting processes. You will report to the AZOA Senior Tax Director.
Job responsibilities:
Tax Compliance and/or Tax provisions/Audits/Internal Controls
- Lead a team in accurate preparation of tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions.
- Lead a team in accurate preparation of tax provisions, account reconciliations, and requested data analysis.
- Assist in tax risk management including execution of internal controls and supporting tax advocacy activities.
Data Analysis
- Review the accuracy of income tax data such as transaction taxability, account reconciliations, correct taxing jurisdictions, asset classification, and tax rates.
- Research, resolve, and respond to tax notices and IRS IDRs.
- Effectively communicate data and findings to key decision makers and stakeholders to drive strategic business decisions.
Process Improvements/Tax Technology
- Utilize tax technology/software and workflow management tools to efficiently complete assigned deliverables.
- Develop and documenting tax process improvements.
- Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)
- Execute on and continuously improve team process, standards, documentations, and other best practices.
Research/Planning
- Conduct tax research and strategic planning.
- Provide recommendations to leadership based on facts and own analysis.
Training/Questions
- Provide training to business partners on income tax regulations and addressing tax technical questions related to their respective business. Train tax professionals of all levels on relevant topics.
What you bring:
- 6+ years’ experience required including accounting firm and/or financial services
- Demonstrated ability to work with tax authorities, regulator and public accounting firms
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.
Job posting range: $145,000-183,500
Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
