Regional Head of Compliance - North America

Reporting to the Allianz Commercial Chief Compliance Officer, you will join the team as a Regional Head of Compliance – North America, responsible for executing the Allianz Commercial Compliance program at a regional level as well as putting in local Compliance plans where required and in agreement with the Allianz Commercial Chief Compliance Officer. 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Leading the local implementation of compliance Policies, Standards and Functional Rules, advising the regional business on compliance risk management and collaborating with the Compliance Assurance function and other governance functions during independent reviews.   

• Participating in the Regulatory & Legal Change Monitoring process, Compliance Risk Assessment process and generally providing local compliance input as and when required.  

• Preparing North American compliance plans to be agreed with the CCO and communicated to local Management. 

• Representing Compliance in the regional governance fora and ensuring regular interaction with regional management, especially on matters related to financial crime, sanctions and gifts & entertainment.  

• Effectively leading the regional Compliance team, and ensuring it is an integral part of the Allianz Commercial . Compliance team. 

• Initiating a monitoring program in line with regional needs, and focusing on economic sanctions and anti-corruption. 

• Developing and maintaining a targeted training program to supplement Allianz Commercial Compliance centralized training in collaboration with global topic owners. 

• Handling compliance investigations and inquiries as directed by the Allianz Commercial Compliance Assurance function and in coordination with any other regional governance functions/HR as required. 

• Providing input for reports to regulators, AzC corporate functions and governance bodies as required  

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Compliance/Audit environment in the insurance industry, including a strong knowledge of risks and controls applicable to the insurance business; 

• Experience working in a large, global framework; 

• Expert knowledge of compliance processes and methodologies, with an understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment, including relevant policies, laws and regulations applicable to the US; 

• Knowledge of financial crime regulations especially economic sanctions; 

• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to identify and resolve issues before they transpire; 

• Ability to negotiate the best position for Allianz Commercial, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties; 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 

• Ability to build and foster relationships, influence others and  take initiative and resolve problems with high degree of autonomy; 

• BA in Business/law/economics or other relevant subject; and 

• Compliance/Financial crime certification a plus.

• A deep knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), with the ability to leverage AI-driven insights to shape strategic decisions and drive innovation across the organization. 

The annualized base pay range for this role is $155,000 - $210,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
