We are looking for a Reinsurance Operations Expert, who will be based in O’Fallon, Chicago, or Toronto office.
The Impact You Will Have
The Reinsurance Operations Expert is responsible for managing and executing complex accounting tasks related to reinsurance activities. This role ensures compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, while supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing reinsurance contracts, and providing insights to optimize financial performance and risk management.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Reconcile reinsurance transactions, including premiums, claims, commissions, and reserves for Assumed and Ceded business
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of reinsurance-related journal entries in compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards
- Analyze and interpret ceded and assumed reinsurance account activity to ensure timely payment or collection activities
- Prepare and review reinsurance-related reports, documents, statements and accounting summaries for internal and external stakeholders
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with deadlines and accuracy
- Assist in preparing monthly reporting and presentations for internal stakeholders
- Analyze reinsurance contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines
- Collaborate with legal and underwriting teams to interpret contract terms
- Perform account reconciliations for reinsurance balances, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over reinsurance accounting processes
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in reinsurance accounting processes
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new tools to support reinsurance accounting
- Act as a liaison between accounting, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure alignment on reinsurance matters
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and support their development
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- 1-3 years experience in Reinsurance Accounting or related Insurance Premium and Claims Accounting
- Relationship building
- Team lead experience
- Financial Skills
- Relationship Management with other AOM Functions
- Insurance and Reinsurance Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is preferred

The annualized base pay range for this role is $62,455 - $106,527 USD. The annual base salary range represents nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
