What you do 

The Head of Alternative Channel Strategy & Business Development will lead efforts to expand Allianz's travel and warranty insurance products through innovative, non-traditional sales channels, such as financial institutions, across the North American region. Reporting to the Managing Director for North America, this strategic role involves formulating and executing comprehensive sales plans, cultivating high-level partnerships, and driving significant revenue growth. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic acumen and sales expertise, enabling them to tailor solutions to partner needs and navigate complex negotiations. They will proactively identify new market opportunities, leverage industry insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product offerings.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and execute sales and partnership strategies for expanding travel and warranty insurance sales through non-traditional channels beyond travel agents and travel suppliers. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of partner and prospect business models, while continuously monitoring industry trends and marketplace dynamics to anticipate and respond to changes effectively. 

  • Conduct in-depth market and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making and to tailor solutions that meet the evolving needs of partners and their customers. 

  • Identify compelling solutions and products to meet the specific needs of partners, ensuring alignment with company objectives.   

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate partner solutions and technology. 

  • Work with in-house marketing team to create industry marketing plans and marketing materials. 

  • Coordinate with in-house product development teams to evaluate and, where necessary, create new products for prospective partners. 

  • Liaise with global teams, including our banking center of excellence team, to scale new business opportunities across markets within our core lines of business. 

  • Identify, strategically plan, and represent the company at key industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand presence, network with industry leaders, explore new partnership opportunities, and strengthen existing alliances. 

 


What you bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or combination of relevant education and work experience. 

  • Ten (10) years of experience in business-to-business sales, sales or marketing experience within the banking, insurance, or travel industry preferred. 

  • Strong relationship and account management experience. 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a track record of building and maintaining successful partnerships. 

  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively, with the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities. 

  • Comfort and experience working within a matrix organization. 

  • Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management platforms for tracking sales activities and pipeline management.
