We're seeking a Senior Underwriter, Financial Lines to join our team either in San Francisco or Los Angeles. In this role, you'll evaluate and manage a portfolio of complex commercial insurance accounts, build meaningful relationships with brokers and clients, and play a key part in shaping our regional underwriting strategy. The Impact You Will Have

• Drive profitable growth by evaluating new and renewal business opportunities and making sound decisions that support our financial goals
• Serve as a trusted advisor to key brokers and clients, strengthening partnerships that fuel long-term success
• Help shape the direction of our Financial Lines portfolio by contributing to regional underwriting strategy
• Elevate the team by coaching and developing junior underwriters and supporting colleagues across the organization
• Represent Allianz Commercial in the marketplace, building our reputation as a carrier of choice

Some of Your Responsibilities Could Include

• Underwriting new and renewal accounts to meet growth and profitability targets, including negotiating pricing, terms, and conditions with brokers
• Managing capacity and evaluating risk across a diverse book of business
• Ensuring all accounts meet our governance standards, including adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and compliance requirements
• Overseeing accurate and timely policy documentation, file maintenance, and administrative processes
• Collaborating with Market Management, Claims, Operations, and other teams to deliver a seamless experience for brokers and clients
• Supporting the acquisition of new business and retention of existing accounts through proactive outreach and relationship building
• Managing referrals from other underwriters and re-evaluating complex accounts as needed

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Experience: 5+ years of underwriting experience in Financial Lines or a related commercial insurance line of business, with a proven track record of managing a profitable portfolio
• Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the U.S. commercial insurance market, including the competitive landscape and regulatory environment
• Analytical Strength: Ability to assess complex risks, interpret data from multiple sources, and make well-informed decisions
• Relationship Skills: Established broker and client relationships, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels
• Communication: Clear and confident communicator, both in writing and in person, with the ability to present ideas persuasively
• Collaboration: Comfortable working across teams and within a global organization; able to influence and motivate others without direct authority
• Contract Knowledge: Experience drafting and interpreting policy language and coverage terms
• Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $99,554 - $135,000/year. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.  As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
