This role will contribute to a profitable and sustainable growth of the business unit in minimizing losses and maximizing recoveries emanating from large, sensitive buyers placed with the Sensitive Risks Unit (SRU) team.

 

Reporting to the Head of SRU APAC, the Sensitive Risk Manager based in Singapore is responsible for Singapore and other ASEAN markets. The candidate must be able to multi-task and have all round experience from risk underwriting, recovery techniques, and have excellent communication skills, as he/she will be involved in meetings/discussions with Buyers and different stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitoring and identifying deteriorating risks or buyers at risk of default at the earliest possible stage
  • Applying risk exposure reduction and mitigation strategies on a case-by-case basis, including recovery strategies, and ensuring the involvement of all impacted parties
  • Maintaining efficient and swift communication with both buyers and policyholders to ensure a consistent message supporting risk strategy implementation
  • Proactively maintaining intelligence on the market through networking, awareness of new financial/business practices, and new data/information sourcing
  • Swiftly taking over assigned sensitive risk cases from the mainstream underwriting team and evaluating all key relevant information for thorough and fast buyer risk assessment
  • Developing optimal risk exposure and recovery strategies on a case-by-case basis to minimize losses and maximize recoveries, leveraging best practices, lessons learned, and experience
  • Identifying, advising, and implementing risk mitigants based on excellent knowledge of policy conditions and recovery/debt restructuring techniques
  • Taking and owning the risk decision, and consistently explaining the strategy to gain buy-in
  • Engaging with buyers, customers, and other stakeholders, such as legal, insolvency practitioners, and auditors, to develop sustainable relationships
  • Devising and executing the risk monitoring plan, including ad-hoc reports to internal and external stakeholders, and undertaking necessary follow-up actions and their execution
  • Identifying the need, planning, and participating in buyer/creditor meetings, and representing the organization and its customers in a highly professional manner
  • Identifying, building, and engaging with relevant financial/business contacts in the market/industry and becoming visible and recognized as a highly trusted professional
  • Writing credit reports and participating in relevant committees
  • Handling monthly reporting and any adhoc tasks

 

This role requires a combination of risk management expertise, financial acumen, strong communication skills, and the ability to make sound and timely decisions in managing sensitive risks.

 

Key Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field is preferred
  • The ideal candidate would have 5-7 years of experience in a corporate credit analysis role and would come from financial services background (banking, asset backed lending, rating agency)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess financial statements, credit reports and other relevant financial data. Strong critical and creative thinking skills, able to evaluate risk exposure and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Excellent command in English, strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex risk-related information and difficult message clearly and effectively
  • Flexible, pragmatic, well organized and able to work independently
  • Adhoc travel maybe required
