Graduate Trainee, Claims

During your first year of employment, you will participate in the Graduate Program which is a 12-month professional development program designed to attract, develop and retain the next generation of insurance professionals. The Program will support your growth as a well-rounded technical expert and potential future leader at Allianz Commercial. Key Program elements include: 

• Employment begins 01 July 2026, and the Program starts in early August of 2026. 

• Time is split time between structured learning curriculum and on the job experiential learning.

Your Team: 

You will be part of the Short Tail Claims Department, which covers different Lines of Business, including Property, Energy, Construction, Marine and Entertainment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Claims Processing and Administration 

• Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGCS Claims administration systems. 

• Review late/nonpayment of premium and support credit control process with Underwriting / Accounts. 

Investigation and Reserving of Claims 

• Investigate standard claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures. 

• Determine appropriate reserving levels. 

Settlement and Reporting 

• Prepare and as required, settle case for settlement of standard claims through payment or denial. 

• Support negotiation to ensure efficient and competitive settlement. 

Referrals and Compliance 

• Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines. 

• Refer cases outside of authority level. 

• Prepare referral documentation and materials as appropriate. 

Distribution Management 

• Liaise with Distribution Management and Marketing & Communications team on Distribution Management initiatives. 

• Attend industry functions. 

Key Experience / Requirements / Skills 

• Expected to graduate with a university degree by June 2026 in a related field (Accountancy, Business, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Engineering etc.). 

• Fluency in English is mandatory. 

• Knowledge or prior experience in an insurance related company is advantageous. 

• Strong desire to learn the ropes in preparation for a career in the insurance industry. 

• Strong problem-solving abilities, including demonstrated tenacity at data mining to discover root causes of results is advantageous. 

• Team player with strong service quality mind-set, adaptable, analytical, independent, meticulous, proactive, reliable, resilient, self-motivated, and willing to learn. 

• Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). 

• Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making.
