Description:
The Head of Motor Claims is responsible for overseeing and managing the Motor Claims function of Allianz Insurance Singapore Ptd. Ltd. with a primary objective of ensuring the team maintains a high standard in assessing and processing the motor claims. The incumbent will be working closely with the panel of claims surveyors, adjusters, lawyers and motor workshops, develop and implement strategies to improve claim performance and operation efficiency, provide expert opinion and advisory, and ensure best in class end to end motor claims customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
The Head of Motor Claims will champion the delivery of the following responsibilities which include but not limited:
a) Customer Experience
- Build strong relationships with intermediaries and customers through regular engagement.
- Ensure prompt resolution of escalated complaints and consistent service excellence.
- Drive clear communication and coordination across business functions.
- Lead stakeholder meetings and support policy reviews and product updates.
b) Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Promote digital solutions to enhance motor claims efficiency and transparency.
- Analyze claims data to drive insights and improvements.
- Collaborate with technology, product, underwriting and pricing functions to ensure portfolio performance and regulatory compliance.
c) Claims Assessment
- Ensure claims are processed in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Conduct regular reviews of both open and closed claims for quality and completeness.
- Ensure reserves are accurately set and aligned with prescribed guidelines.
d) Strategic Initiatives
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with overall claims direction.
- Partner with leadership on market opportunities and claims trends.
- Collaborate with technical, underwriting, and actuarial teams on strategy alignment and loss ratio target achievement.
e) Team & Vendor Management
- Lead and develop the motor claims team across local and offshore sites.
- Manage service providers, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance standards.
- Oversee lawyers, motor workshops and surveyors, ensuring strong vendor performance and customer service.
f) Technical Expertise & Compliance
- Apply risk and fraud detection techniques to safeguard claims integrity.
- Provide technical advice on vehicle repairs and claims anomalies.
- Ensure compliance with Allianz and regulatory requirements.
- Drive performance metrics such as turnaround time and claims cost.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or a related field
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the general insurance claim sector, with a dedicated focus of at least 10 years of experience in assessing and managing commercial claims.
- Certification in Basic Insurance Concepts and Principles (BCP), Personal General Insurance (PGI) and Commercial General Insurance (ComGl) with Singapore College of Insurance is mandatory.
- Proven track record in managing and leading claims teams.
- Local Motor Claims Insurance experience and knowledge is a must.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and implement operational improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Any AI-future skills e.g., GenAI, or CoPilot 365, will be an advantage
