Job Purpose

 

The Head of Strategy and Transformation for Health Insurance is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives that drive transformational growth and business development within Allianz Asia Pacific's health insurance . This role involves collaborating with regional leadership and key operating entities to develop and implement the annual strategy plan, manage strategic projects, and enhance market intelligence. The individual will oversee program management, health claims cost containment, capability development, and performance management to ensure alignment with organizational goals and financial targets. Additionally, the role requires fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, driving innovation, and supporting sustainable business growth across the region. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in business strategy, consulting, and health insurance, with a strong focus on strategic thinking, analytics, and stakeholder management.

 

What you do

 

Strategy development
• Ambition setting: Support and co-lead the development of the Annual strategy plan (SD, PD) in close collaboration with regional leadership and key OE heads 
• Support planning & analysis of high impact strategic initiatives: e.g., structuring a fact base, driving root cause identification, practical solutioning, and setting up implementation / tracking 
• Transformational growth: Managing the execution of individual project modules. This typically includes developing hypotheses, managing data collection, model creation and analyses, conducting primary and secondary research, creatively tackling information limitations, and surfacing insights.
• Business transformation: Drive strategic projects focused on medium-long term strategy and commit to developing initiatives to transform the business and achieve financial goals
• Market intelligence: Lead and conduct market research, competitor intelligence, financial analysis, data modelling and other analysis on an ongoing basis to evaluate strategy and benchmark performance, identify and inform strategic recommendations to senior leadership teams
• Go-to-market: identify market opportunities (both short-term quick wins and long-term growth levers) and develop business cases to support the business in expanding footprint, enhancing existing market presence and propositions
• Innovation: Analyse and synthesise findings to map the impact of changing industry value chains, challenges, needs, and review and refine strategies to catalyse innovation activities
• Proposition development: Support integration of long-term regional objectives with OE aspirations by leveraging cross-functional expertise (e.g. product, distribution, marketing, ops, analytics) to drive proposition development 

Program management: 
• Project Management: Lead and oversee healthcare strategy projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Impact Tracking: Develop and implement metrics to assess the impact of strategic initiatives, regularly reporting on progress and outcomes to stakeholders and senior management.
• De-bottlenecking and Problem Solving: Identify and resolve project bottlenecks and challenges, employing analytical and creative problem-solving skills to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals, analysts, and executives, to drive project success and strategic alignment.

Health claims cost containment: 
• Claims monitoring and cost containment strategy: Align OEs to a common framework for claims monitoring; build and automate granular claims reporting for monthly management reviews and adhoc reports; support the monitoring and evaluation of provider performance through data analytics; support claims management strategies through data-driven insights and analysis.
• Data strategy: Oversee maintenance and enhancement of a central health data repository; create and implement a comprehensive data strategy to address gaps and enhance data collection; establish and enforce data quality standards and practices, in collaboration with the global competence center Allianz Digital Health. 
• Claims forecasting: Build predictive models and forecasts to anticipate healthcare trends and demands
• Data science / data engineering: Strong understanding of modern data science and data engineering tools

Capability development
• OE collaboration: Collaborate / Educate / Influence / Train / Share knowledge & expertise from & to peer entities within Allianz group, build community on C-level and Minus 1 level for knowledge handshake across all functional areas in health
• Drive outcomes: communicate findings, work with senior leaders and stakeholders to develop and execute strategic priorities to achieve critical business outcomes
• Internal change accelerator: apply content knowledge and leverage support from C-level leadership in project execution, develop new intellectual capital to support business development activities and drive value creation in AZAP
• Sustainable business growth: Build detailed models and analyse key financials, as well as other datapoints (both internally and externally) to uncover insights and translate those into tangible business value, ultimately to catalyse growth and innovation activities in the region
• Stakeholder management: Establishing and cultivating strong relationships with operating entities, corporate partners, industry stakeholders and other relevant institutions.
• Solution development: Leverage and facilitate design thinking, macro/industry/regulatory trend analysis to identify and solve business problems, ensuring OE alignment to regional strategy
• Diagnostics and data-driven insights: Run POCs / Tests / scenarios / simulations as needed on sales and distribution activity management - realize value from data
• Impact assessment: Evaluate and gather insights on progress of new and existing growth opportunities, review and refine to ensure alignment to the overall regional strategy
• Support Group strategic projects: Deliver and engage entities on functional projects attuned to the Group and regional strategy (e.g., ADH, etc) 

Performance management
• Management dashboard: Develop detailed management reports covering the performance and outlook for the business (e.g. 360 view of KPI delivery)
• Streamline operations: Identify opportunities for efficiencies in work process and innovative approaches in optimizing business processes to streamline core operations and service delivery 
• Regular business steering: Oversee delivery of regular reporting process on distribution-related strategic initiatives (both local and regional) to senior management teams and regional head office
• OE support: support OEs on annual business planning with conducting reviews, qualitative assessments to identify strategic operational issues and performance gaps, while ensuring alignment with regional business strategy and long-term goals.
• Cross-functional strategic support: Play an active role in supporting other departments to deliver on strategic objectives for the Health business (e.g. collaborate on projects with Product / Finance / Ops / Distribution functions)

 

What you bring

 

• 10-15 years relevant experience in business strategy or consulting domains, with exposure to health insurance, including project-based, team-oriented environments.
• Proven business/consulting skillset with established capabilities to manage key personnel and senior management (local, regional, and global)
• Passionate about playing a role in developing the future growth drivers for Allianz Asia Pacific, with a strong interest in emerging trends, future industries and technologies
• Strong background in strategic thinking, analytics & demonstrated ability to problem solve
• Strong interpersonal / influencing skills with leaders who don’t directly report to you
• Convincing executive presence, solid spoken and written communication skills including executive level communication / slides
• Able to work independently and in teams, while being highly adaptable and dependable across different topics and business scenarios 
• Demonstrates a keen sense of business acumen with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
• Resourceful with a self-starter mindset; strong ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives
• Proven track record in senior stakeholder management in a fast pace and dynamic environment
• Proven track record of leading and managing teams or work streams and delivering against tight deadlines in fast paced and demanding environments
• Strong presentation skills and advanced proficiency in the use of PowerPoint, Word and Excel is a must
• Leadership qualities with an interest in building and enabling a high-performance team with quality outputs
• Strong understanding of the health insurance value chain, including providers, payors, patients, other ecosystem partners, etc.
• Sound technical know-how with ability to translate technical jargon into terms that business leaders can associate with
• Experience in navigating and engaging across Asian markets and cultures, especially Southeast Asia
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Must have - excellent communication skills, strong analytical and conceptual skills, proven project management/coordination capabilities, ability to work independently
• Adaptable and strong team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills
