Job Purpose
The Allianz Asia Pacific (AZAP) Tax function operates as a unified team, overseeing tax-related matters across all Allianz Operating Entities (OEs) within Singapore and the broader Asia Pacific region. As a key member of the AZAP Tax function, the Tax Manager will primarily focus on managing Tax and Transfer Pricing topics for Allianz Technology SE's operations in the region. In addition, the role will involve contributing to special projects, group initiatives, and addressing emerging topics such as Pillar 2 compliance and e-invoicing implementation.
As the regional tax subject matter expert, you will be one of the key contacts for tax matters in the region, leading tax projects with minimal supervision, and this role will involve significant cross-team, function and business liaison as well as interaction with regional tax/ finance and Allianz group tax (including with key stakeholders).
What you do
Tax Advisory and Planning
- Providing tax and transfer pricing advice to Allianz Technology SE's operating businesses in the Asia Pacific region (currently, in Singapore, Malayisa, Thailand and Australia (for example, tax advice on global large-scale IT transformation projects, M&A/ special projects, contract reviews, charging flows)
- Providing international tax advice for the region (tax treaties, withholding taxes, GST, VAT, Pillar 2)
- Support the finance functions with transfer pricing advice and requirements
- Supports senior management on day-to-day tax queries
- Monitoring and analysis of national and international tax developments (including BEPS Pillar 2)
Tax Compliance and related
- Ensure high quality review, work closely and coordinate with external tax consultant on corporate tax filing, transfer pricing documentation, GST/VAT filing and applicable tax filing.
- Ensure high quality review of tax reporting, tax provisons and Pillar 2 reportings
- Dealing with tax audits and tax risk management topics
- Designing and supervising tax compliance processes
- Provide tax trainings to teams and colleagues in the region
Teaming and collaboration
- Builds interface and network with the OEs and Tax colleauges in the region/ Germany
- Actively participate and collaborate with the team to ensure effective communication and smooth workflow management by the team head
- Share knowledge and best practices with the team members to support a culture of learning and growth
AI/Process automation solutions
- Develop actionable AI/Process automation solutions to enhance efficency and delivery of the above tasks
What you bring
- Bachelor degree in Taxation, or relevant professional qualification and relevant Tax Certification
- Around 6 years of relevant working experience
- Strong tax technical knowledge and understanding on tax advisory and tax compliance best tax practices with a commercial acumen
- Exposure to transfer pricing and cross border tax concepts in Asia Pacific region
- Need to be an effective team player with a collaborative outlook
- Solution oriented behaviour for complex tasks/ processes combined with hands-on mentality
- Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and a pro-active approach
- Project Management: Ability to plan, organise, motivate, and control resources to achieve specific goals in a temporary endeavour
- Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to analyse highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire
- Strong understanding of financials, cost management and macro-economic trends
- Familiarity with tax process automation, digital tax compliance platforms and data analytics
- Knowledge of IFRS tax accounting
- Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story
- AI Skills e.g. ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot an advantage
