We are looking for a Regional Head of Risk Management, Asia, based in Singapore.
Job Purpose/Role:
The Regional Head of Risk Management is responsible for leading and coordinating risk management and control activities for the respective region. This includes risk identification, risk assessment, risk monitoring and risk reporting in order to make the risk and control landscape transparent to the organization. It includes as well definition and prioritization of actions required to mitigate risks in close collaboration with the business, and to support the business in managing their risks. The Regional Head of Risk Management is responsible to implement global processes on regional level, and to stay abreast of regional regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1.Lead and Manage Team (direct reports + matrix responsibility)

Develop strategy for own area of responsibility in alignment with functional/regional goals. Provide employees with guidance on overall strategic picture and how team's targets are aligned to it. Define clear and challenging targets, monitor progress and address performance issues appropriately and effectively. Set Priorities.

Drive organizational set up for own area of responsibility including personnel selection and manage budget within plan.

Coach and develop employees in a continuously changing enviornment. Empower employees to execute tasks independently. Foster behavior of team members as desired according to AGCS standards (e.g. behavioral goals, etc...) and live up to the matrix organization.
2. Perform independent regional risk oversight

To make AGCS region's risks transparent to the local management teams and to global risk management, based on independent risk oversight with a focus on but not limited to underwriting practices, new product development, reputation risk, operational risk and risk accumulation.

To conduct and review business areas of concern, to communicate and report to senior leadership about risk topics.

To be the local and regional contact person for managers and staff to communicate risk topics and processes. Oversee the calcualtion of the quantitative Solvency position for all relevant countries in the region.
3. To be the conduit of transparency around risk related topics between the local management and global teams of AGCS

Quarterly reporting of the regional and local risk reports, including operational incidents reporting. Annual identification of the regional and local top risks.

Communicate actively with Senior Management, in paricular with the local CEO/CFO and the global CRO. Ensure efficient interfaces and proactive coordination between local and global Risk Management teams.
4. Ensure compliance with external requirements

To interpret and implement external local risk management requirements in an efficient manner.

Maintain relationship with local regulators in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokio, Korea, India and other external parties in the context of risk management activities.
5. Support global initiatives and projects
- Support the Global Risk Management team with global responsibilities and initiatives as needed. Participate in local and global projects.
Key Experience / Requirements / Skills
Required Experience
-
Experience in leading and developing international and or virtual teams within a complex global matrix environment.
-
Experience of leading change and delivering large scale international projects in various business scenarios, including, e.g., restructuring, integration.

Industry or professionally recognised and up-to-date Risk Management expertise, backed up by hands-on Risk Management experience.

Proven experience in communication of results to a variety of stakeholders incl. senior management.
Required Education
-
Bachelor, Masters, PhD degree in mathematics or any other analytical science or strong quantitative field.

Completion of Actuarial/Financial (e.g. CFA) designation considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
-
Deep understanding of insurance and state of the art risk management techniques.

Product knowledge: Deep understanding of corporate insurance product portfolio.

Robust knowledge of principles & practices of other relevant functional areas (COO, Actuarial, UW, RI, etc…)

Robust understanding of regulatory risk frameworks & requirements across AGCS' locations.

Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.
General Skills

Navigating Complexity: Ability to make sense of complex issues; respond to complex/ambiguous situations by identifying & initiating appropriate remediation & follow up. Anticipate and resolve issues before these transpire.

Decision Making: Effectively evaluate info from multiple sources to identify business issues; involve stakeholders in the decision making; commit to action after weighing alt solutions against important decision criteria.

Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).

Conflict Management: The ability to recognize and deal with disputes in a rational, balanced and effective way.
Languages

Fluent in English.

Fluency in local language will be a plus.
