Our Opportunity:
The Team Leader is accountable for managing and overseeing the processing of Own Damage claims arising from motor accidents. This position calls for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in the insurance industry, specifically in motor claims management. The Team Lead will focus on ensuring the prompt, fair, and compliant resolution of claims in accordance with local regulations and company policies, while also leading, guiding, and mentoring a team of claims specialists across Singapore and Malaysia.
Objectives & Key Performance Indicators:
- Collaborate with Distribution, Product, Underwriting and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of coverage, policy intent and wordings.
- Attain annual claims savings and loss ratio target set by Head of Motor Claims
- Effective claims management skills, including compliance to protocols/operating procedures, reserving and managing panel of service providers.
- Maintain good turn-around-time and claims service level standards to ensure customer claims experience are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of claims specialists handling own damage claims across Singapore and Malaysia.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Monitor team performance against key objectives and KPIs, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
Claims Management
- Oversee the assessment and processing of Own Damage claims, ensuring accurate determination of liability and evaluation of damages.
- Conduct detailed investigations, including site visits, evidence collection, and coordination with repairers and medical assessors.
- Negotiate settlements with third parties and their representatives, ensuring fair compensation while minimizing costs.
Reporting and Communications
- Prepare comprehensive performance reports for management, analyzing claims data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
- Conduct presentations to management and stakeholders, providing insights and updates on claims performance and strategic initiatives.
Customer and Stakeholder Interaction
- Communicate effectively with claimants, policyholders, repair shops, medical providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the claims process.
- Prepare and present regular reports on team performance, claims trends, and workshop efficiency to senior management.
- Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for cost savings or process enhancements.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key customers throughout the claims process.
Workshop and Vendor Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with workshops, repair vendors, and other service providers.
- Negotiate service agreements, pricing, and terms with workshops to ensure cost efficiency and quality repairs.
- Monitor workshop performance and compliance with agreed service standards.
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in motor claims assessment and repair workflows.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., underwriting, claims, and customer service) to streamline processes and resolve escalations.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all claims are handled in accordance with Singapore's legal and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed of changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to motor insurance and claims handling.
Qualifications and skills:
- Over 15 years of experience in motor claims management, specializing in own damage claims.
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams within claims operations.
- Professional certifications in insurance or claims management.
- Certifications in Basic Insurance Concepts and Principles (BCP), Personal General Insurance (PGI), and Commercial General Insurance (ComGl) from the Singapore College of Insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of Singapore's motor insurance regulations and claims procedures.
- Strong skills in analysis, negotiation, and problem-solving.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using claims management systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- AI-Skills e.g. ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot an advantage
