Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with AIM SE Research, which owns and produces macroeconomic, geopolitical and market analysis, to further develop investment content and insights for Asia.
- Act as the regional bridge between AIM SE Research, AIM SG and local CIOs, ensuring that global research perspectives are informed by Asia market realities and that regional investment needs are properly reflected.
- Translate research insights and macro, geopolitical and market analysis into implementable investment views, portfolio positioning recommendations and risk-return-taking actions for Asian portfolios, reflecting local restrictions and requirements and contrasting with global outside-in view.
- Monitor key market indicators, including yield curves, credit spreads, inflation expectations, FX moves, equity valuations, volatility, liquidity and funding conditions, to identify portfolio opportunities and risks in Asia.
- Coordinate scenario and stress-testing work with local CIOs and the AIM SG ALM team, using AIM SE Research inputs where relevant, to assess impacts on portfolios, balance sheets, investment earnings, solvency, liquidity and resilience.
- Prepare investment recommendations, briefing notes and decision material for the Regional CIO, regional forums, and local investment committees / operating entities, ensuring views are evidence-based, actionable and clearly linked to portfolio outcomes.
- Lead regional macro and market communications, including monthly outlooks, market updates, scenario packs and senior management presentations, liaising with AIM SE Research and leveraging content and resources as needed.
- Lead regular in-depth portfolio review for selected Asia portfolios.
- Partner with local CIOs, portfolio managers, risk, ALM and sourcing teams to challenge investment assumptions, align views and support investment decisions across Asian operating entities
- Support the achievement of the overall ambitions of the regional teams.
Key Requirements
- Advanced degree in economics, finance, econometrics or a related discipline; CFA or other relevant professional qualification is strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in market strategy, asset allocation, investment research or portfolio management, with a strong track record in Asia.
- Deep understanding of financial markets and cross-asset transmission mechanisms, including rates, credit, foreign exchange and equities.
- Proven ability to build scenarios and stress tests and translate complex macro, market and geopolitical developments into clear portfolio implications and investment recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, fixed income and multi-asset investing, and the investment considerations of insurance balance sheets.
- Demonstrated experience producing high-quality investment communications for senior stakeholders, including investment committees, CIO forums and executive management.
- Excellent analytical, synthesis and communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High degree of intellectual curiosity, sound judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and under time pressure in a complex matrix environment.
- Strong collaborative mindset and credibility in working across CIOs, portfolio managers, risk, ALM and senior leadership teams across multiple jurisdictions.
- Technical fluency in new digital tools and data-enabled ways of working, including AI-enabled productivity and research tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT), market and analytics platforms (e.g., Bloomberg), and data analysis and visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Python) to support research, scenario analysis, portfolio insight generation and investment communications.
