Impact You will Have
The Senior Accountant III will own, manage and oversee all treaty reinsurance accounting processes and transactions for Az Commercial external cessions. This role in a multi location team with global responsibilities is linked with external reinsurers and brokers, across all accounting regimes in various systems. Ensuring accurate, timely and efficient closings and reportings is key in the evolving, complex environment. Special capital management reinsurance set ups with AZ Group / Az Re are also part of the global role.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Closing and Reporting -- Plan, coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly and annual closings, related accounting tasks and reporting products (eg., (contributions to) financial reports, regulatory reporting, group/management reporting requirements) including ad-hoc reports/analyses across applicable accounting regimes (IFRS, GAAPs, statutory, Solvency II) in accurate and timely manner. This also includes: Complete assigned postings, journal entries and account reconciliation on a periodic basis; reconcile and resolve IC transactions with affiliates; coordinate, transfer and reconcile of data from input/frontend systems; monthly legal entity close submission activities, incl. accruals and manual adjustments
- Governance and quality assurance -- Own resp. closing/reporting processes and products and parts of/contributions to resp. processes and products. Drive new topics and towards a comprehensive simplification, standardization and harmonisation of processes, (reporting) products and tools following best practice to improve productivity and harvest efficiency gains, in line with AZ Commercial strategy and global first mindset. Ensure fulfilment of documentation and audit requirements
- Collaboration, communication and relationship management (internal and external) -- Manage relationship with ATT / Finance colleagues and other internal, group and AZ-external stakeholders, incl. in particular Group Accounting and Reporting, AZ SE / Re, 3rd party reinsurers and brokers, guided by high customer focus and business acumen; manage interface / relationship with external auditor and other 3rd parties (eg., tax authorities, public authorities), where applicable
- Ad-hoc tasks and project work as assigned. Specifically in the immediate global long term Aurora reinsurance structure
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- 3-5 years professional experience in reinsurance accounting of P&C
- 3-5 years experience in project and team work in an international and dynamic
- 3-5 years experience in proven ability to navigate in a complex/matrix environment with
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS 17, local GAAP, regulatory and other relevant requirements
- Manage closing and reporting process in line with relevant internal & external requirements, Ensure data correctness, quality and integrity.
- Big data automation capabilities (e.g. Alteryx, AI, Sap Analytics Cloud)
- Generate reports and reconciliations for internal and external requirements
- Solid understanding of global RI processes and of underlying business transactions
- Ability to make sense of complex issues; respond to complex/ambiguous situations by identifying and initiating appropriate remediation and follow-up. Anticipate and resolve issues before these transpire
- Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations
- Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is preferred
- Master Degree preferred, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting
- Locally recognized professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g. CPA, ACCA, etc.), if applicable

US Applicants:
The annualized base pay range for this role is $115K to 135K USD. The annual base salary range represents nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
